Water pipes can result in one of the best experiences of smoking. Their shape and size decreases the temperature of the smoke, resulting in a smoother hit all together. For both first timers and experiences smoker, the vast variety of water pipe can be intimidating when looking for one to purchase.

Plus, using a water pipe can lower the probability of your throat irritating or having a burst of coughing – which we all know can be overwhelming.

Since we have previously found ourselves confused, we know it can be a bit hard to find reliable information on the different types of water pipes, we’d thought this might come in a little helpful.

Water pipes filter and diffuse the smoke, by having it pass through water. The part of the pipe that actually accomplishes this task is called a percolator. Different types of percolators have different ‘perks’ associated with them; some designs allow for more diffusion than others.

Showerhead Percolator

Showerhead percolators get their name, mainly due to the similarity in their shape. There is a vertical tube inside them which expands into a chamber. With slits and holes inside the chambers which lead to excellent diffusion and filtration. Showerhead percs are the most common percolators after straight ones. The reason they are so popular is because they work well and they have been in the market for a very long time. The smoking experience from them is pleasant, as the smoke is diffused properly and feels very cool on the throat.

Stereo Percolator

If you think standard percolators make the smoking experience better, wait till we show you what double percolators can do. The principle behind these is very simple; instead of filtering and diffusing the smoke once, why not do it twice? The double bypass filtration works wonders for the smoke and results in an extra cool smoking experience. The two percolators are often of the same type but there is no reason for them to be. Stereo percs give us twice the option to be creative and see how we can create the best smoking experience possible. They are normally found stacked on top of each other

Honeycomb Percolator

These are called honeycomb percolators because they have many small holes on a flat surface, and boy, are they sweet. Honeycomb’s might be a little harder to find since they are not easy to make. There needs to be a lot of small holes for these to be effective. The placement and size of the holes also affects how the water pipe works; too small and there will be too much drag, too big and there wouldn’t be enough diffusion.

Which is the Best Percolator?

All the different types have a distinct feel but you cannot go wrong with any of them. At the end of the day, what matters is which experience feels better to you. We sell the different types because people have different tastes; and its always worth to try new things.
